Rossell India's Revenue Rises Nearly a Quarter in FY26, but Profit Falls

Rossell India's tea revenue rose to Rs 226.20 crore in the year to March 2026, lifted by a full year of its newly bought Dhoedaam estate in Assam, but net profit fell to Rs 15.86 crore after a Rs 4.62 crore writedown and higher labour costs.

Rossell India's revenue rose nearly a quarter in the year to March 2026, but profit fell to Rs 15.86 crore (about US$1.8 million), a fifth lower than the year before.

Rossell India Limited, a tea company with estates in Assam, reported revenue from operations of Rs 226.20 crore (about US$27 million) for the 2025-26 financial year, up from Rs 181.85 crore, according to audited results its board approved on May 21.

Most of that gain came from a larger estate list rather than a firmer market. The company ran its Dhoedaam Tea Estate in Assam, bought with effect from January 1, 2025, for a full year for the first time.

Profit moved the other way. Net profit for the year was Rs 15.86 crore, down from Rs 19.69 crore, and earnings worked out to Rs 4.21 a share against Rs 5.22 a year earlier, the company said.

Two charges took much of the difference. The results carried an impairment of Rs 4.62 crore (about half a million dollars) against non-current investments, and an added gratuity liability of Rs 24 lakh after India's new labour codes changed how the provision is calculated, according to the filing.

The board recommended a dividend of 40 paise a share, 20% on the Rs 2 face value, to be put to shareholders at the annual meeting set for August 25. It also approved the appointment of Digant Mahesh Parikh as a whole-time director from August 26, in place of the retiring Nirmal Kumar Khurana.

The two lines moved apart: revenue up, profit down. The Dhoedaam estate added leaf and turnover across a full year; on these figures, it did not add to the bottom line.
